These are Spencer's favorite cantilevers. He's "built hundreds of bikes" with these. They're copies of XTR M900 cantis, (which frequently sell on the used market for 5x what these cost) but with a cheaper finish and pads. The pads are smooth-post so you can fine tune how far or close they are to the rim without shuffling spacers around. Use the stock pads 'til they're worn out and then replace them with some Koolstops, or Yokozunas.
These are front and rear specific, but the only difference is the link wire is longer for the front brake. You don't have to use the provided straddle cable at all: if you have a rack that mounts through the fork crown and you're worried the provided link wire won't clear it, get one of our straddle cables and hangers and use that instead.
