Hub - NEW Silver
Hub - NEW Silver
Silver hubs are an integral part of our efforts to divest ourselves from the big fish parts manufacturers as they chase their own tails trying to solve problems they created in the first place. At the time of this writing, Shimano still makes some rim brake hubs, but they're steadily trickling down their parts hierarchy and it won't be long until they're spit out of the bottom of the Tourney group-o and that'll be that. OK, maybe the situation isn't that dire, but now that we have these hubs, we don't have to worry about it.
These are high end hubs, with cold forged shells, four pawl quick engagement, and swappable end caps from 135 to 130. Rears come stock spaced for 135, so buy this endcap if your bike takes a 130mm rear. The freehub body is steel to better resist getting chewed up by big pancake cassettes with tons of leverage.
11 speed compatible, but they'll ship with a small freehub spacer for everything lower than that. They also come with nice internal cam skewers.
They're louder than a Deore hub, but you can grease the pawls and quiet them a bit.
Front: 145 grams
Rear: 365 grams
