These dynamo hubs are made by the same people who make our Silver hubs. Other companies out there have ordered this same hub with their own branding, which is why it may look familiar. We had them leave it unbranded. In our experience, these are as reliable as the Shimano dynamo hubs, but, unlike the current Shimanos, they lack the vestigial-for-us centerlock disc mount. This is an exclusively rim brake dyno. Perfect!
Note: When you spin any dynamo hub in your fingers, it's notchy. That's normal, and necessary. That's what generates the power for the light. When it's built into a wheel and you spin the axle by grabbing the tire, you'll feel it a lot less, and when you're actually riding the bike, you probably won't feel it at all. Sometimes on smooth roads you may feel a slight vibration when the light is on, and that's normal, too. If you want the absolute least amount of drag possible but still want a dynamo hub, get the much more expensive Schmidt Wide Body. There are also USB lights, of course. Most Riv employees, for what it's worth, usually get either these or the Shimano dynos.
These don't come in a box, and there's no skewer included either.
