They're five percent softer than the Possums, which means they’re softer than they need to be, but we bought them because “100 percent Alpaca” is hard to resist, and the colors are new.

Washing, drying: Well, if you want to boil and tumble-bake your sox, buy synthetics or buy big. Clothing makers are always ultra-conservative in their laundry rules, and they say hand-wash in cool water and dry flat. In our experience, machine wash on cool, or maybe warm, and line dry. If they shrink, they’ll get thicker and then you can give some nice thick, pre-loved 100 percent alpaca sock to a smaller-footed friend.
