Special notice to those of you considering a Homer in March, 2023. The normal Homer information is below this:
We have a tradition of allocating something from the sale of each new frame or bike to the charity du jour. This time, it’ll be $75 from the sale of each Homer frame or whole bike.
The $75 will go to a Nepali family who has hit really hard times, even for a Nepali family. The father died, the family is in debt and mom is being hounded by creditors. A daughter, Anisa, who’d been attending a costly private school on the way to becoming a doctor had to quit school.
Nepal is a poor country with tons of political, social, environmental, and religious problems. We can’t help any of that, but we can make a huge difference to the Yadav family, and to Anisa. There are several sons, too, who—while not on a doctor path, are still in school, but may have to stop due to the family’s debt.

We’re shooting for $20,000 between now and March 15 I know that’s an insane amount, but it’s an insanely worthy cause, and it will change many lives around for many years to come. Buy at least ONE.
We’ll credit your account $10 for every one you buy, so essentially, it costs you $15 to give them $25. This is assuming you’ll find some future need for $10 in RIVCREDIT.

Now we return to our nomal A. Homer Hilsen information.
The A. Homer Hilsen was born in 2005 and filled the humongous gap between race-only road bikes and mountain bikes. It redirected our approach to bikes and riding and created our "country bike" category (now replaced by mainstream bike makers who bafflingly didn't see the need for roadish bikes with more tire clearance until their competitors started selling"gravel bikes").
Homers are at home on paved or unpaved roads, credit-card tours centuries, and brevets - so the only thing keeping it from being good for everything is the size of the tire it can fit. Homer's go up to 45mm, which for a roadish bike, is seriously phenomenal, so no need to get greedy and wish for more.
Take advantage of the clearance built into it, and start with a 38 to 42mm tire. Go bigger or smaller next time, if you feel like you must. Also, put a small rack in the front or the back, and at least one bag on it. A Bananasack, a Slimsucker, a BagBoy, or if you shop for food a lot, a Happisack, the bag name inspired by a song title that sounds a lot like Happisack.

Framesets include an FSA Duron 1" threaded headset, a 27.2mm seat post, and 110mm square-taper bottom bracket.
