Over the years we've used chains by all chain-makers, and recently have settled on—not locked in—to chains made by Taiwan's best chain-maker, KMC. We've used nothing else since at least Summer of '16, and nary a problem. They seem perfect. Both models (6/7/8sp and 9sp) come with the easiest to use quick links we've ever wrestled with.
X9 speed KMC chain is now available in Long 136 Link length for our Joe Appaloosa, A. Homer Hilsen, Clem, Susie, Gus, Yellowolley, Platypus, and Atlantis.
If you don't know what length chain to buy for your old bike, take off the old chain and count the links.
Most chains everywhere are sold in Regular 116 link length which is not long enough for most of our current bikes.
