Roman's singlespeed Roadini

Roman's singlespeed Roadini

Roman got one of the newer lugged Roadinis, but kept his tig welded one to build up as a singlespeed. I (Will - Roman is in Mexico currently) loaned him my ENO rear wheel to make it work with the vertical dropouts. He has it set up so when he puts the wheel in the bike, he can push down on the saddle and the hub rotates upwards, tensioning the chain.

Moving the axle of the wheel upwards effectively drops the bottom bracket and changes the geometry of the bike in small ways, but it's not enough to make a difference in riding. The ENO hub is a fantastic way to convert one of our bikes to a singlespeed.

Nitto only made a couple of those quill Y stems. They were developed for our HubbuHubbuH tandem before we decided to make it 1 1/8 threadless. I think Nitto still makes a threadless version of the Y stem.

Other parts include:

  • Silver 3 crank with a tracky-looking 40t Orgin8 ring
  • Kasai dyno hub
  • The new B&M Brick front light
  • Wavie bars
  • Pirelli speedster 35mm tires
  • A Frameplumper that fits perfectly
  • Monarch pedals.
