Rich's Frank Jones Sr.

53cm C-T; seat-height, 71 (my pbh is 81). That IS a B67 saddle. Why ride anything else? The crank is Shimano CX70, 36t single-ring. FW is White Industries 17t. Silver/Tektro brakes. The wheels are: Phil FW rear converted to single-gear 120mm; DT-Onyx front hub (not to be confused with the current Onyx hubs). Velocity Dyad rims, 700/36. Albatross bars. Tires, 42 (40 actual) Little Big Bens.   This is my 3rd attempt at a single-gear bike. I had 2 QBs (one converted to 650B, the other a used one bought from a friend). So far so good! I just love going out for an hour or two around San Francisco, finding less-hilly places to ride. On occasion I'll commute on...

Reminder: Platypus frames Thursday at 12pm PST

I don't know if they'll sell out in the first hour, day or week, but if you want one, your best bet is to be ready to add a frame to your cart right at noon. I'd be ready to click at 11:55 and just keep refreshing the page until the option to add to the cart appears. Please have one of these added to the cart as well so we know what your plans are unless you're getting just a frameset and don't need it prepped, in which case you can add just the frame. Important: If you are getting a build, don't worry about adding parts to your frame order. We'll do that later on a separate invoice....

Platypus frames go live April 1st 12 noon PST

Our container came, outta the blue It turns out, much to our relief, that the April 25th ETA I talked about in the last newsletter is for Appaloosas, not Sam and Platypus frames. Our container arrived Friday morning and they're all packed away into our warehouse now. We've already started chipping away at the Sam orders, which are pre-sold-out. Check out how tightly packed the container was in Sergio's XA snap:   Platypus frames will be available to order Thursday April 1st at 12pm PST. You'll have to trust us that it isn't an April Fools joke. We're going to finish all the Sam orders before starting on the Plattys so even though you'll be able to buy one, we'll...

Grant's 59cm Clem L - Maxed out

I'd like to thank Will for not attending to the BananaSack flap before shooting this otherwise great photo.  Two BananaSacks is the way to go for me a lot of the time. The only plastic I drink out of is a BLUE LUG water bottle, shown. Friend Dan bought these 2.6mm Teravail tires but then decided he wanted something smaller for his Gus, so I bought them from him. The rear derailer is a RapidRise Shimano Nexave, which, back in the Bridgestone days, we pronounced "nay-hah-vay" for fun, and I can't go back now. Shimano had such great plans for this derailer, but it flopped, so naturally I love it. I don't ride pedals without reflectors, which is a step...
