The last Rivendell custom
The last Rivendell custom

We stopped accepting orders for customs because these frames take way too long to get. Years, easily. They take so long that we'd forget exactly where in the process we left off: Did we send the drawing to Nobilette? Did we tell him where to put the pump peg on the seatstay? Does he know that the bottle cage mount on the downtube should be a triple bolter? Does he know how far from the BB axle to place the bottle braze-ons? Does he have all the necessary lugs? No, he doesn't? Do we have one to send him here? Shoot, we don't? And so on, and so on. Once we finally determined that all our ducks were in a row, we'd relax a bit, promptly forget everything we just figured out and repeat the same process every six months until the frame actually arrived. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but only a little.

Despite the behind the scenes intermittent panic, or maybe in part because of it, the frames always, always, come out beautifully, and Ted's here is no exception. The paint, based off an old Mercian; the lugs; the decals; the proportions; and those big puffy tires – everything just looks great together.

Thanks so much for being so patient, Ted. I'm glad you got the last one.
