Description

When your bike has cantilevers or V-brakes and you just need a smallish rack up there for a bag or basket or stuff-sack, this is the best choice. Even Mark, of Mark's Rack fame, uses it on his bike with cantilever brakes. It has a threaded rod that mounts through the hole in the fork crown hole that isn't used because your bike has cantilevers, and then each lower leg of it clamps to the fork blade, using totally foolproof, reliable, cushioned, stainless steel, lightweight Nitto-made clamps and hardware. It's easy to mount, it mounts solidly, and any bike with a hole in the crown can be made more useful with this rack. No doubt there are some super fat forks there that it won't fit, but if the circumference of your fork blade at a point roughly 5 3/4-inches below the hole in the crown is within spitting distance of an inch, the rubber clamps will go around it.

Great basket holder November 8, 2012

I have used two baskets on my Betty Foy: the Wald wire basket, which is easy to zip tie to this rack and is enormously practical but not gorgeous. Or shellac a Peterboro basket (http://goo.gl/rkIj) and tie it with zips and leather straps. Works fine either way.

This rack is a champ October 3, 2012

I've had this rack on my Saluki for about 5 years and it has consistently served me well.  Most of its use has been with a L'il Loafer, which is an excellent combination for commuting--but it has also been rigged with a large wald basket and large sackville shop sack for grocery shopping.  It is a really handy rack: rock solid and versatile.

just be prudent... September 8, 2012

I've had my Mini Front Rack for two years now. I use it to carry all kinds of mini (light) things. It looks and works great! If you want to carry big (heavy) things, then get the Big Front Rack

Broken May 26, 2012
Reviewer: Ellen from NYC, NY United States
I had this rack, it looked great. However, its really not practical if you actually want to carry something on your rack. I finally strapped a basket on it, and that worked fine, until it finally broke - on the part that attaches to the frame. So I bought another front basket that attaches to the bike directly and the broken front rack is stuffed in the closet.

Bag and Light March 29, 2012
Reviewer: DC from Pittsburgh, PA
I chose this rack because I wanted a handlebar bag with a traditional decaleur (quick release) and a Busch & Müller dynamo-powered headlamp.  On my Surly Cross Check with canti brakes, this rack works great with P clamps with some old inner tube wrapped around the forks.  My  bag sits on the rack, stabilized by the decaleur; and the lamp mounts to the front of the rack.

When I get to work, the bag quickly lifts off leaving the rack, light, and wiring easily behind.  No straps, velcro, or buckles.
