This is it - the one you actually both want and need. Without going light crazy this one has great balance of one piece design, excellent light strength and focal zone. Look no further. I always run it on Medium and battery last 3-4 hours. Tried High setting, but not really noticeable difference. Really not clear why anyone would seek more light than this can deliver. Too much more light and you end up with external battery pack weight and inconvenience /more stuff to go wrong.

I use this light for my commute through crappy streets of Santa Cruz, now I can actually miss a few pot holes for a change. The charge seems to last me at least a week of riding.

I have nice dynohub light systems on two other bikes, but wanted to avoid the "permanence", weight, drag, and cost for my Quickbeam. I was willing to sacrifice lighting performance. But the performance of the Metro 300 surprised me. It rivals my dynohub system, and since my rides in darkness are rarely long enough to challenge the Metro 300 charge-life, it is perfect for me. I'll be using it on rural (no street lights) gravel roads with confidence.

Used this light on the pre dawn ride to work today and was thrilled to be able to see. Seattle's potholes can no longer lurk effectively in the dark. Hope I didn't blind anyone on the trail portion of the ride. . .
