One hundred percent cotton chambray, along with hickory cloth, is one of the two oldest fabrics for American work shirts. Chambray shirts have never, ever been out of style, and ours is the best one on the market, with the right details:

• Two flapped, buttoned pockets. The left one a pencil-holder.
  
• Rounded unpointed collar, like Clint “Empty Chair” Eastwood used to wear in his Westerns.
  
• Cut full—fits fat guys.
  
• Tagua nut buttons stitched on four-hold buttons with red-thread in an X.
  
• Rounded cuff uncorners. They’re harder to sew but look better. Especially buttoned. You can’t have a button-down chambray shirt, and chambray is floppy enough so that the points bend. A round-tipped collar fixes that, which I’m guessing is why Clint “What was I thinking?” Eastwood wore round-tipped collars.

They came to us packed in plastic sacks, folded ten at a time, thanks a lot. Even so, they cost us $40—probably $10 more than the Made In China USA Olympic team opening ceremonies uniforms cost Ralph Lauren. You can find chambray shirts selling for that or less (although, now and then, for up to $100) when you let your fingers do the shopping. It’s unlikely that we’ll ever do these again, seriously. It is a major hassle, and projects such as this are beginning to feel like my own personal indulgences, not actually good for business. Although, it is gratifying to see such nice shirts. They’re fine for riding, yes.

Sizing: They fit big so normal shirt sizes ought to do if you like them big and baggy. BUY A SIZE DOWN if you want a more traditional fit. Wash and dry and they’ll shrink some, being all cotton. If you're a medium tshirt, get the small.
