This is the 2nd year with my MUSA Halfmitts. I wear them regularly 9-months out of the year and every once-in-a-while the other 3 months. Sometimes over gloves. Sometimes by themselves. Easy to flip off to use my fingers. They stay attached via the elastic wrist strap. How these aren't a common item in every bike and outdoor type store is beyond me.

Great, low-cost addition to cold weather clothing.

I bought these Halfmitts because this past Spring I cut my index finger pretty badly with a circular saw. As the weather has become colder, my hands would be warm with the gloves I have used in the past, but due to diminished blood flow that finger stayed very, very cold. I got to use the Halfmitts today in sub-35 degree weather, and they work great! With thin wool glove liners my hands were very warm the whole time, including my bum finger. I can also attest to their waterproofness, as it started to rain for the last couple miles of my ride, and my fingers stayed dry. The Halfmitts are super light and take up barely any space, so they're great for leaving in my handlebar bag, for those days when I underestimate what gloves I need. The bright red color is also really nice for signalling in traffic. At $14, the value-to-function ratio is up there among the things Rivendell sells, in my opinion at least. And made in USA, on top of it all!

These Halfmitts work great for me with knit wool gloves and temperatures down to about 30 or so. Much below that and I need heavier gloves. They probably make the gloves good for about 10 degrees cooler than gloves alone.
I just might sew on a bit of reflective tape to the back of each. Cool weather also means more likely riding in the dark.
