No. 15 of the year? EARTH DAY SPECIAL. A celebration, not a sale-abration
Posted on April 21 2019
That's a photo of the moon rising over earth, shot on Christmas Eve, 1968, by astronaut William Anders. Here's a vid about that shot.
I may have put this out before, on the anniversary of the photo. But maybe i just sent that to Riv employees, not sure. It's a 5:40 or so video, but there's a half-hour video with more detail, if you get into it. The first one is good, tho.
Good Earth Day story in the NYT. CLICK HERE.
It's a five minute read.
If you ride a bike, he is your hero.
(The event that triggered Earth Day was an oil spill off the coast of Santa Barbara, in California. But that was just the final straw in a long series of environmental distractions that were first brought to light by Rachel Carson, in Silent Spring, her 1962 book that made normal people care about the environment.)
In Denis's own words, here's how Earth Day happened:
Denis Hayes now runs Bullitt Foundation, and is on the BOD of the Earth Day Network. If you donate $50 to the Earth Day Network, send proof and we'll credit your account $35. It'll cost you $15 to give $50. You must have an account with us, or else there'll be no account to credit.
