I finished up my Roadini after work yesterday and took advantage of the late afternoon sun to take some pictures. This bike is fully an indulgence; my Homer works great as a road bike and before I built this Roadini up, I'd switch between knobby-ish tires and the smoothies pictured here depending on what rides my buds had planned. It took me about 10 minutes, but when you're a full-on bike nerd, and you work for a bike company that lets you keep personal rides in the rafters, that's enough of an inconvenience to justify a new build.
Before the Roadini frames came, I had the UBU (unreasonable bike urge) to build up a vintage frame, and I had eBay searches saved for Jack Taylor, Woodrup, Mercian, and Ron Cooper frames, but as charming as those bikes are, I like giant headtubes and lots of tire clearance, and that was proving hard to find. The first time I rode the demo Roadini, I knew I had to get one.
James and I spent yesterday shipping Roadini framesets, so if you've got one on order it won't be long now, although builds are still aways out. Not having to prep them makes it so much faster to ship, but remember to have your LBS align the rear derailer hanger.
Is the pink crank cap too matchy? I'm still deciding. It's an easy swap later on if I decide it's too much.
54cm Noodles are the best drops I've used.
Grant gifted me a XT mid-cage rapid riser. It's a dream with friction shifters.
