Trangia West Wind Stove
The classic, lightweight, no-frills stove. This is perfect for bike-touring: It's compact, durable and reliable, and doesn't leave you with garbage (empty canisters) to leave behind for somebody else to deal with. Well, even denatured alcohol comes in a can, but over the course of a year, there's a lot less junk left when you buy alcohol a gallon at a time.
The top has threads so you can screw a fuel cap on. This allows you to keep fuel in the stove between uses. The cap is a threaded cap with rubber gasket. The cap has a simmer control that attaches over to the top. It swivels over the cap, controlling the amount of airflow, increasing or reducing the heat. The stove uses denatured alcohol, and will boil a pint of tepid water in about 7 minutes. It holds enough fuel to burn for about 45 minutes with no wind, or 20 minutes with.
There's a windscreen, composed of three aluminum plates that slot together to for a triangle. The stove nests in the middle of the triangle. The screen also doubles as a support for whatever pot you're cooking with. It's rugged, compact and lightweight, but it's not that great of a windscreen.
Stove and windscreen together weigh 6.7 ounces.
