THICK T, LONGSLEEVE
Garden variety t-shirts are made with 5.4 oz. (per sq. yd.) fabric. The fabric in this one weighs 7.5 oz per sq. yd., and although that doesn't sound THAT much heavier, when you pick it up and hold it in your hands, it feels about twice as heavy. So, it's not a hot-weather t-shirt, it's a cool-weather or an I-feel-like-sweating t-shirt.
It's 90 percent cotton and 10 percent rayon. Rayon, for your information, isn't in the nylon-polyester-polypropylene family. It's in the oak-redwood-hickory family.
That's right, friends. Rayon is made from wood pulp, and we've been assured that no old growth forests have been harmed in the making of this t-shirt. You might wonder why any rayon at all, since it's just a t-shirt. I wondered the same thing. Who wouldn't wonder that? As it turns out, rayon makes the fabric feel a little smoother and makes it wrinkle less. Any old t-shirt feels smooth enough, and t-shirt wearers don't usually care much about wrinkles, but the maker was aiming for a better t-shirt, and knew how to go about making it. It feels as good as any t-shirt you'll ever wear, and it looks really good.
The "dark heather" fabric is basically speckled grey, and actually looks noticeably different, but not in a bad way, from the normal "athletic grey" t-shirts that normal people wear.
Sad Flash: The maker is discontinuing this weight t-shirt, and these will be the last. It's too bad. I think it's too thick for a short-sleever unless you're a Marine in boot camp or something, but for a long-sleeve t, it's great. Wear it over a wool shirt or by itself. Buy up a size if you like it loose. I/Grant wear a L shirt but I like this one in an XL or 2X (but I like loose non-dress shirts).
