Frank Berto, and Ron Sheppard co-authored this book.  In spite of the title, the main focus of this wonderful book is the history of the derailleur: The evolution of the bicycle's gearing system, from lever controlled shifters to STI and Ergo shifting.

The second edition builds on the first edition, adding more information about the derailleur's history, as well as innovations made since the first edition was released. Wonderfully illustrated with pictures, diagrams, and technical drawings by the late Daniel Rebour.

This is a must-have for any cycling enthusiast or cycling historian.
