Every so often, maybe two or three times a year--four at most, five on a bad year--we find ourselves with frames that were intended to go to Person X, but then Person X canceled for this reason or that, or changed the color after it was painted. And then there are frames that are made as prototypes as we develop new models, and although they're perfectly good, we change something about them, so they can't be sold as the thing they were supposed to be.
See?
And in dribbles and drips they accumulate, and we get to the point where it makes sense to sell these poifectly good frames, generally for pretty good deals.

The frames are made by our normal suppliers: Toyo (Japan), Nobilette (America), Waterford (America). They are all top quality. Don't think one is "better" than another. The "quality" of a frame is marginally measurable, but all of these are way better than frames need to be, they all meet our standards, so your only concerns should be:

--will it be appropriate for the kind of riding I intend for it?
--does it fit?
--which tires do I plan to ride? Will it fit them?
--is there anything about the frame that bugs me, and will always bug me? The color, for example.

These are all available for  immediate delivery. Most of you will want them assembled into complete bikes, and if so, count on another $1700 or so for that. We are experts at helping you put together a complete bike that'll be just right for you.
In such cases, there are some BIG decisions for you, such as:

Handlebar type
Tire size
Where do you want the shifters?

and MEDIUM decisions:
Double or triple chainrings?
Brake type, when there are options (centerpull or sidepull? Canti or V?)
Friction shifting or indexing?

and SMALL decisions:
bar tape: color? Cloth or cork? Shall we shellac it for you?
Racks? Fenders?
What kind of pedals?
Is a RapidRise rear derailleur OK? It's the way to go, for most people...

For most people, another frame or bike is a financial stretch. We realize that, and if you're working with a tight budget, let us know and we'll tell you flat out whether or not it's realistic. We don't bargain on price, but, for  instance, if you really want the frame and don't require Phil wheels, and you have your own saddle so you don't need a Brooks; and you're willing to go cheap where it won't hurt the bike (our cheapy thumbshifters, for example), then we are happy to get creative with you, so you can spend as little as possible and get as much as possible.

If you're sincere about the bike (now and then we run into folks who enjoy conversing about parts and throwing around historic names, but don't actually ever commit)--yes, if you're sincere, we'll work with you all day long on these bikes (or any other).

When you call up, we WILL ask if you know your Pubic Bone Height, and if you don't, the rest of the questions are kind of moot. We'll humor you with polite and accurate answers, but there's no sense talking about a particular 58cm frame if your PBH is 89cm, and you don't know that.

"What if I want another color?" You can probably get it, but it'll cost you $300 more.  And take a couple months or so. That's what it costs us.
