Gamoh Cargo Rack

You've seen racks-like-this all over the place these days. They're welded thick tubes with wooden bases, and are typically sized to fit multiple six-packs of alcohol, although you can certainly carry other things in them.

This one isn't so different from the others out there, but it is a particularly good value; it mounts easily, particular on 700c-wheel bikes; and it is made in Japan.

No word yet on "gamoh." It's "homag" backward, but that gives no clue. Anagramists quickly come up with Ma Hog, and Am Hog, and it is a stout rack. It weighs five pounds and carries up to forty.

If you're thinking "won't small stuff slide out the big gaps?" your next thought should be, "I'll nip that in the bud by clever use of cordage, wrapping and lacing the sides in a way that'l spoil the cool look of the rack, but will allow me to carry small things that I really should be putting into a ShopSack or other bag, anyway."

We-here-at-Rivendell make it a practice to help racks with heavy loads by lifting some of the weight off the rack and hanging it from the bar with a strap. It isn't strictly necessary, but has to help. There are photos showing the concept.
