Most sweatshirts are made with 8 to 9oz. 80/cotton x 20/polyester fabric. The better ones are 85/15, maybe 11oz.

This one is 95 percent cotton and 12.5 oz., and is an almost-unique "reverse weave," which means the knit is horizontal instead of vertical. That means it stretches more and binds less in the fat direction, instead of vertically. Plus, it has a panel in the side to help that out, too. Don't worry, the panel blends in, so the sweatshirt looks like a sweatshirt ought to -- baggy, thick, and barbed-wire fence proof.
