Kucharik is owned and run by John Sr., in his 80s now, and John Jr., his son. It started in Southern California more than 50 years ago, and is still going, and still making clothes down there. Kucharik clothing is for the most part solid and no-nonsense. Sure, there are some spandex items in the mix, but Kucharik is best known for wool, and in the '70s, it was one of the better-known brands.

Anything Kucharik is built strong to last, using the best materials and construction details that have evolved over All That Time. Even the colors are strong, nothing blended or halfway between this and that, green with a hint of blue, reddish orange, anything like that.

This short-sleeved jersey isn't as soft as a Woolistic, but it will last as long or longer, and as long as you aren't a super-sensitive man or a typical woman, it'll be just fine. The '70s Kuchariks--now THEY were scratchy. These are fine merino wool (100 percent) and reinforced at all the right spots. It should last you at least 5 years. Three pockets in back and a 12-inch zipper in front.
