These are for bikes that use centerpull or cantilever brakes, and have a one inch threaded headset.  These will work with one inch theadless headsets, too but you'll have to file off the little tooth first. 

The Aluminum hanger has a slotted tab and slotted barrel adjuster, and is 5mm thick.

The Steel hanger is about 2.5mm thick.
