The best bar mirror ever was made by Rhode gear, but they don't make it anymore. Not this particular one. Nobody who has one, even a 20-year old one, will sell it for $50, because it's just one of those SO GOOD things.

Until we came upon this German mirror, nothing even came close to that Rhode Gear mirror, and this one seems to be, actually seems to actually be 90 percent as good as that one, and 500 percent better than any other currently available mirror.

It mounts onto any handlebar, easily. It even mounts to forks. It keeps its place, it offers a clear view of what's bearing down on you from behind. It takes NO getting used to. It doesn't interfere with your riding, your hand position--at least not more than 1 percent, and for the benefit it provides, that may as well be not at all. It weighs less than 2 ounces, it's affordable, and it isn't even made in China.

If you like helmet or glasses mirrors, fine, maybe this won't be for you. But if you're OK with bar-mount mirrors (and heavens, it's easy to be OK with them once you get over the nerdy looks, and that's something you should do asap)--then you will really, really like this German mirror.

Mirrors are funny, in that some people have such bad associations with them that they just refuse to use one. Or they figure, if they want to see behind, just turn and look.

That's all fine, but many riders find it more convenient to glance down into a mirror than to turn and look. It's not that "turning and looking" is hard; it's more that glancing down into a mirror is just easier, and you're less likely to mis-steer that-a-way.

For such a light, secure, easy to mount, easy to use mirror to be so affordable AND not even made in China....is pretty weird, these days. Germany makes this, and thoroughly de-bugged and fully figured out it is.
