SKS Longboard P45

The current best SKS fender are no less excellent than they've always been, but the Longboards are longer, so they're slightly better. Mark and Jay here had a lot of input on them over several months and prototypes, and came up with their dream fenders, and these are them, and they seem to be perfect. You will never suffer a rain or blast through a puddle and wish for any more coverage, any different detail.

We've heard they'll come in lots of colors, and we've seen most of those, but we're picking the silvers and creams, since those look good on any bike. These are our favorite fenders of any and they come with flexy, fantastic mudflaps.

All the SKS Chromoplast fenders we sell are now this LongBoard style. Only available in one size for now, the P45, which fits 650B and 700c wheels up to 45mm wide mediumish fat tires. This P45 also works on 26" wheeled bikes, for super duper coverage, but you'll need to take off the long front fender flap or swap it out with the shorty flap.

Comparison specs Longboard (LB) vs the regular (REG) SKS fenders on a 650B Sam Hillborne with 38mm tires.

Rear fender ground clearance:
LB 8" vs REG 13"

Front fender ground clearance (more ground clearance = wetter feet):
LB 1-1/2" vs REG 8"

Top of front wheel coverage (more coverage = less face spray):
LB 9-1/2" vs REG 7-1/2"

Hetres, Rumpkins, Marathons, fit under the P45. November 6, 2014

Brushed aluminum looking.
I love the full coverage length of the fenders.
Easy to drill holes for mounting a tail light. A wood bit goes through like butter.

Only downside:
Can't get the nose of the front fender to hug the contour of the front 650b wheel/tire. It may be my inability to get it aligned right. May be tricks to the trade that I don't know.

5 stars for the installation video, too. It is a MUST SEE before attempting installation. So helpful.
It is uncanny how the folks at Rivendell think of just the right mechanics videos on their site for "Un-mechanics" like me.

Works great with 26"x1.5". May 29, 2014

I bought the silver set and replaced the front long mudflap with the short one that Riv sells. They look really sleek on my '92 StumpJumper commuter, but it took a decent amount of effort to make them look good. I made a shim at the fender bridge by the bottom bracket out of a rear reflector, bent some of the mounting plates a certain way, etc. Now, the fenders look amazing with my 26" x 1.5" Vittoria Randonneur Pro tires. I wouldn't got past 26" x 1.5" for these P45 fenders, though.

good fenders October 13, 2013
Reviewer: james valiensi from northridge, CA United States
These fenders appear to be improved over the SKS fenders of several years ago.
I made the mistake of installing them and watching the video of Mark installing them after I finished - I then had to redo them.
The coverage of the 650B Schwalbe tires is very good. The mud flaps are very nice and the fenders follow the tire lines really well.

Terribly useful - and eye-catching April 22, 2013
Reviewer: Kate from Metro STL
I rode (to work and for fun) in some cold, windy, wet stuff this winter before I had the cream version put on my red bike. I still ride (to work and for fun) in wet conditions, and now the color combination is a conversation-starter. The only time my feet get wet now is when I curve through standing water. I ride in Keens now that it's warm, so no bigs there. I love these fenders because they look good and perform better.
