  Esbit Stove - 52006

Description

It's the Esbit stove, from Germany. It's steel, folds down to 3.9' x 3" x 3/4. It weighs 3.5 ounces with a fuel tablet that burns for 9 minutes, enough to boil some tea or soup. All in all, this is the perfect stove to bring when you're not sure you want to bring one, but aren't sure you want to do without,  either. Because it's so cheap and small. ESBIT has made this stove for  40 years, and it has saved the night for many travelers before you. Comes with 6 fuel tabs, and you can buy more cheap, from REI or us.
The fuel tabs are readily available from us or from Campmor or online. And since all the stove IS is a fuel-holder and pot support, you can burn anything from yak dung to kindling in it. You don't need the tabs, but the tabs burn longer for their size than anything else, and should be your first choice.

Cook in well-ventilated areas. Although the fuel tabs are non-toxic, if you burn them in a closed area, you'll get a weird whiff.

Great water boiler July 31, 2012
Reviewer: Glenn from Niagara Frontier
Heat from fuel tabs is too concentrated to cook with. Fantastic for boiling water. Small enough to bring along as just the water boiler. Makes a tea break much easier to fit in the schedule. Also nice for having a stove easy to break out first or stow away last.

Want to travel light? November 21, 2011

I bought this stove a few years back and its really fantastic.  Packs up super small and in combination with some tin-foil you have a terrifically efficient little stove.  So small you'll forget you've packed it.  If you're looking to boil enough water long enough for a couple packs of Ramen you only need one tablet.  With a windscreen (tin foil) you have a fuel source that's incredibly powerful.  I was reminded of its awesomeness on a overnighter this weekend.  The weight and space I saved using this stove helped me to bring more water (which I ended up needing desperately).  Get it.
