All superfine merino wool, made in Australia just for us. It's thin enough to fit under a hat or helmet, and offers more coverage than a hat or a neck gaiter, or a hat and a neck gaiter. For temps below about 40 degrees, it's a good way to go. You can still wear a hat on top, but the good thing about the balaclava is the cheek coverage, and the warming-of-the-air as you huff and puff.

The front part that goes around your face is double-thick.  The neck part is long, which helps a lot. These are the nicest thinnish all-wool balaclavas you'll find anywhere. However: If you're cold-weather motocycling without a full face helmet, don't expect not to freeze your lips off. Block the wind with the helmet, then no problem.

Black, for that ninja polliwog look.  Our cost went up a lot, and there probably isn't another retailer in the world who would mark them up so little. No smart ones, anyway.

I just got back from a fresh powder 4-mile run in the December Rockies at 5ËšF, with the trees cascading snow on me just for running under them. Perfect balance of warm and breathable so critical for winter fun.
