Description

ONLY SMALL AND XSMALLS left in brown

Note: These "New" MUSA shorts are longer than our "Old" pattern.  Some have found they need to order one size smaller of this new style to get the same fit as the old style.

And: if you can add the size and color you want to your cart, it's in stock.  Black in all sizes now in stock (as of June 18), various sizes of Blue, Brown, OLIVE/brown in stock.  Do the "Backorder Request" if your size/color is still out of stock though.

MUSA (Made in the USA) shorts are Rolls Royce/Cadillac/Red Wiggler of all-purpose shorts. As good on the bike as off. Made of taslan nylon, a textured fab, they weigh zero ounces and dry in one second, or so it seems. Notably for cycling shorts--and thank heaven for this--they lack the usual sewn-in diaper pad that generally identifies shorts as For Cyclists.

Normal looking bike shorts!

These are regular, so you wear separate undies with them, just as you do for your normal pants. That way, you can wash undies and shorts separately.

They are seamless in the crotch. The stress points are bar-tacked in cheery ruby. The pockets are large and suspended (that's the tech term for "not made like Carhart pockets").

Two rear pockets securely hold your wallet or something flat until the blue buttons--which match the blue pocket and crotch trim, by the way--fall off. There's no way to stich buttons on securely, so if you care about your buttons, hand-sew them with strong, beeswaxed thread, and tie it off good.

On the back of the legs are two patches of 3M Scotchlite. Hardly noticeable in daytime, but handy to have there at night. A little movement and flash, not bad.

The waist belt has a double-slider buckle and is not stitched in. It's better that way.

These shorts are cut full and on the long side.

Actually 4.5 Stars April 19, 2012
Reviewer: Bob from Ventura County, CA
I have 4 pairs now, from the original ones to the latest ones.  I wear them both on and off bike most all the time.  They have been perfect for touring as they dry quick and look great off the bike.  I wear a pair of Peral Izumi underneath and there is comfort and looks in the combination.   My only issue, and the reason for the 4.5 stars is the is the waist belt, which I wish had more 'holding' power, but over the years has gotten better.

Just Shorts. February 1, 2012
Reviewer: Brian Handy from Guam
These things are great.  There was a period in time you couldn't find just basic shorts in the stores without a million pockets you don't need.  Someone mentioned velcro on the rear pockets - I prefer nothing whatsoever.  I tend to unbutton them and never use the buttons again.  Outside of work, I live in these things.

Reviewer: CF from VA
Any ladies (especially tiny ones) try these out?  They look stupendous, but kind of big...

These shorts are great! December 17, 2011
Reviewer: Ryan M. from Kentucky
I immediately bought another pair of these shorts after I used my first pair the first ride.  If you don't mind biking in baggy shorts, and I don't mind at all, you should buy these.  They are extremely comfortable, lightweight and look great; well, they look as great as sport shorts can look.  If you want to wear padded shorts underneath these, they still ride fine and don't look like you are trying to win the Tour de France! Big fan of the buckle and elastic band closure thingy!

Awesome December 8, 2011
Reviewer: Mike from Colorado
These are hands down my favorite shorts of all time. Very well made, perfect for cycling (or whatever). One of the best things I've done for my general cycling comfort was to start wearing shorts like these + lightweight wool undies, no more padded cycling shorts for me. I have much better circulation and feel a lot 'fresher' (ahem) after a long ride.
