Description

MUSA (Made in the USA) shorts are Rolls Royce/Cadillac/Red Wiggler of all-purpose shorts. As good on the bike as off. Made of taslan nylon, a textured fab, they weigh zero ounces and dry in one second, or so it seems. Notably for cycling shorts--and thank heaven for this--they lack the usual sewn-in diaper pad that generally identifies shorts as For Cyclists.

Normal looking bike shorts!

These are regular, so you wear separate undies with them, just as you do for your normal pants. That way, you can wash undies and shorts separately.

They are seamless in the crotch. The stress points are bar-tacked in cheery ruby. The pockets are large and suspended (that's the tech term for "not made like Carhart pockets").

Two rear pockets securely hold your wallet or something flat until the blue buttons--which match the blue pocket and crotch trim, by the way--fall off. There's no way to stich buttons on securely, so if you care about your buttons, hand-sew them with strong, beeswaxed thread, and tie it off good.

On the back of the legs are two patches of 3M Scotchlite. Hardly noticeable in daytime, but handy to have there at night. A little movement and flash, not bad.

The waist belt has a double-slider buckle and is not stitched in. It's better that way.

These shorts are cut full and on the long side.

Good shorts, belt doesn't work. February 22, 2013

These shorts are great and last a long time. The best bike shorts you can buy.

As Dylan mentions the elastic belt will not hold them on if you have anything in the pockets. I usually cut it off and replace it with $0.80 worth of standard nylon webbing, you can reuse the buckles. I'd prefer if the shorts had standard belt loops. Who doesn't own a belt?

Almost perfect. January 31, 2013
Reviewer: Dylan Hicks from Bellingham, WA United States
I have been using and enjoying an older version of the current MUSA short for about a year now.  I find myself wearing them both on the bike and off and find them comfy for all uses.  I like that they look a bit different from a mass produced product and wear the MUSA label with pride.  This is truly a great value for a product, particularly one that is made stateside.  My only complaint, and this may be a function of my embarrassing lack of hips or derrières from which to hang my shorts from, is that the waistband elastic is too long.  I would prefer a combination of a mostly non-stretchy material along with a bit of elastic.  I usually cinch up the waistband so much that I end up with an unsightly and curious looking pair of danglers in my frontal zone.  Buy them anyway.
