Nearly last chance, plus beanies

Most of you members know, some of you don't, all of you oughta, that each calendar year's purchases are totalled, and a 5 percent rebate is credited to your account, good only for purchases in the following year.

This means this: If you bought something as a member in 2006, your account was issued a credit for 5 percent of that. Let X equal the amount you spent. No, let Z equals the amount you spent, because X is too much like a times sign, and that will come in handy soon. Better yet, let P equal the amount you spent, because P is for Purchases. So it goes like this: 2006P x .05 equals 2007RC, where RC is cola.

The thing to consider is: at the en ad of this calendar year, whatever Rebate Credit you have on your account will evaporate, just like it does at REI, if you don't use it before December 31. If you try to get it back in 2008, we'll refer you to REI's legal team, and you can fight it out with them. 

We are getting in lots of really especially nice beanies and balaclavas, in a range of colors. Our price on these went up about 15 percent to 20 percent, but we're holding prices or up-pricing them just a hair until Spring. But they're winter things, and terrific inexpensive gifts, so useful so much of the time, and they're arriving by Monday at the latest.

In the balaclavas we have black for $25, and light blue and red for $27. I hope the PopUp menu problem will be fixed soon, but we have the caps in now, so call in an order if you want one, thanks.

I'm continuing to work on RR40.I'd hoped to get it out in 2007, but now I'm hoping for 2008 rather early.  I'm also trying to figure out if we can put a color version of it on our site, as a pdf. At least one of the stories will benefit immensely by color.

By the end of the month we may have what should be the final Bombadil prototype here, and it will look way different than our other bikes. I had a hunch and went with it, and now it just needs testing. It will look good, but different. We're still focused, still as unyielding and closed-minded as ever. Don't read anything bad into the difference IF we show it, and that's pretty likely. If you're reading this, if you actually visit our site and call us every now and then, then we ought to be comfortable showing you some things that may or may not ever happen, and we are.

We are still a couple of days behind on shipping. Plan for that. We just got in a few more Large yellow rain hats, and the black wooly tops and bottoms will be replenished in three days. 

In case I forget: Merry Christmas. No matter what you believe. It's the thought, not the figurehead, not the religion. No offense to anybody, ever. Be merry for the next 3 weeks or so.
