Thanksgiving Weekend Store Hours
November 23, 2007
Our physical store will be closed until Monday the whatever-it-is, the one after Thanksgiving. But we're closed Friday and Saturday. A four-day weekend for the group here, a good thing. Some of us are going camping high on the mountain, taking advantage of being able to leave at about 1:00 so we don't have to pedal in the dark, and have time to go higher up there.
What a luxury, to be able to be in a situation where one can voluntarily opt to load up a bike and huck it up steep roads and trails...instead of worrying about bombs and disease and famine and floods, earthquakes, crime, and all the other everyday ills that millions suffer every day. The "problems" I worry about every day are things like lousy delivery, a shortage of CrMo Albatross bars and Grip King pedals, online misrepresentations, nailing the perfect blue, and an ache in my arm. They matter only when I shrink the world so other people's problems don't fit in it, only mine. Thanksgiving is a good time to stop doing that. For four days at least, and forever at most. You still have to deal with the things within your reach. A global perspective gone wild can create its own problems in anybody's immediate world, by way of not addressing them, but every now and then you need to turn on the wandering eyeball and look around, and Thanksgiving is a good reminder to do that.
