Super Blog-Type report

Here and there in the bike industry and outside of it, there are pockets of inspiration and hope and rah-rah from small manufacturers fighting their particular industry's dilutionary trends. It's from companies such as these that I get ideas, that I get influenced, and that I find inspiration. I'm not putting us in their league. We do what we do for a variety of reasons, and Belief In it is right at the top. But still, it's good to feel a part of a small group, and it's good to get ideas from them, too.

In the next few months, what I'd like to do is pick one of their widgets that may or may not have anything to do with bikes, and offer it up for sale for a month. In all cases, it will help these companies, because we will be supporting them, for that month or so; and it will expose you to a good maker and a good product, and maybe not all of them will strike a chord, but one in four will, for sure.

I really want to do this, but I don't want to dilute our menu or message or whatever. Maybe I shouldn't worry, since we already have shaving cream and non-bike books. Anyway, it may be an experiment, these wildcards-of-the-month. Sometimes I forget what month it is. I can't believe it's late July already. Don't buy any madras shirts until you see the one we throw up on the site for August. We're buying the last of the Spring line from this maker. I don't care who you are---you'll look perfect in one of these. We'll have about thirty of them only, in M L XL, maybe a 2X.

I might chicken out, not sure. There are lots of things, though--six or seven at least.
